Can you answer Adam G’s question about Treadmill?:
I am trying to stay fit and I find it so much easier having a treadmill or elliptical home vs running around the block. To me it is so much easier, and I dont have to worry what im wearing or being embarrassed sweating alot. I dont have to sweat running in 100 degree weather. So I convinced my mom to get me a treadmill but her price range is $400 max.. Ive found tons of great deals on treadmills and now im wondering

Which is better, a treadmill or an elliptical. What is the difference?

Treadmill Feedback: Personally I like ellipticals much better than treadmills. The amount of weight you lose will always be a product of how hard you try and how often you use it….one isn’t really ‘better’ than the other.
Treadmill Feedback: there are two ways to answer your question. technically speaking you can burn calories on both machines. it’s actually the intensity at which you use them (how fast on the treadmill, how much resistance on the elliptical) that will determine how fast you burn calories. by the way, an excellent way to increase the intensity on a treadmill is to raise the incline. it helps you work harder without actually havng to go faster.
but the better answer is to buy the one you really think you will use. boredom is a huge factor for home workouts, and treadmills can be incredibly boring. I say buy the one that offers you the best likelihood that you will continue to use it consistently.
I recommend using a heart rate monitor also, to make sure that you are working hard enough, but not too hard.
Treadmill Feedback: I use the elliptical I loose twice as many calories on the elliptical. When I am on the treadmill I go 3.0…which is a 20 minute mile. My knee starts hurting if I go to fast because of an injury in high school. On the elliptical I go much faster without the pounding (so it doesn’t hurt my knee). On the treadmill you will have to run to get that kind of workout.
