How can I start a home gym?

Can you answer Jaime’s question about Treadmill?:
I’d like to exercise at home because I feel self-conscious about exercising in front of people, plus I hate the sales vibe of the place. So what can I do to have a small gym at home?

Treadmill Feedback: you don’t need all that high tech equipment to work out. you can go running outside or biking for your cardio part. and you can do crunches, push ups, leg lifts, lunges, etc without anything. i like doing workout videos although i actually LOVEE taking those classes at the gym like kickboxing and aerobics.
Treadmill Feedback: You can get some free body weight exercise video demonstrations right here
or on my blog i have some exercise tips and programs that can help you burn fat at home with no or very little equipment
good luck and make it happen!

Treadmill Feedback: If you have no limit on cash…. >:D
buy a bowflex
buy a dumbell rack, two of everything — 5, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, etcetera
a bench press rack (preferably one that can be inclined and declined)
a squat rack
a whole load of disk weights
if you’re shorter on cash, just buy a bowflex
if you’re REALLY short on cash, just buy a pair of 15 - 20 pound dumbells. Or better yet, adjustable dumbells with a few different disks
cardio you can do outside, trust me, nobody looks. I used to be self conscious about it too.
Treadmill Feedback: If you’ve got space and cash, buy:
Squat/power rack
Olympic barbell & weights (around 200kg or so for the average trainer)
Pull up bar
Adjustable bench
If you’re short on space and cash, just buy a few kettlebells.
Hope this helps.
